What exactly is “Mica”?
Essentially, “Mica” is the name given to a class of minerals (rocks), that have specific physical properties. The word Mica comes from the Latin verb “Micare” - literally “to shine”. Because of its crystalline physical structure Mica minerals are found in nature as thin and shiny flakes.
Mica’s perfect structure
Mica physical structure makes it chemically inert, elastic, flexible, insulating, lightweight, platy, reflective, and refractive. Mica is stable when exposed to electricity, light, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
Mica flakes can be worked into very thin sheets of highly refractive mineral able to absorb and irradiate heat through infrared waves. The heat is provided by an embedded electric filament.
Advantages of De’Longhi Mica Panel Radiator
Unlike traditional heating technologies, De’Longhi HHP1500’s infrared waves generates heat only once they come into contact with the object surface (i.e. our skin). There is no dispersion of heat energy in the environment, therefore infrared energy is the most efficient and stable heat nature can provide. Because the waves do not heat the air uselessly, you can use the Mica Panel even in drafty areas and still get IR heat!
IR waves are safer than traditional heaters as they do not burn any oxygen in the room and do not need any air current. Because the HHP1500 has no glowing element fire hazard is greatly reduced.
