I have avoided burr grinders in the past because they are LOUD. So when I used this model at a friend's house I loved how uniform the grind was and how relatively quiet it was - quieter than many blade grinders. I use an aeropress so when I first took it out of the box I put it on the finest grind and it had a very high pitched squeal along with the usual sound. I was ready to return it and then experimented with a slightly courser grind (which is still finer than I actually need) and it was the volume I remembered so I have kept it and am very happy with it. Plus, I swear, it makes more flavourful coffee!
